Compress IPv6 Address
The IPv6 Compress tool takes an fully-notated IPv6 address and compress it by removing empty octets (0000), replacing them with a colon (:).
Enter an exand IPv6 address.
Compress IPv6 addresss
To simplify address entry leading zeros within each block may be removed.
example:
21DA:00D3:0000:0000:02AA:00FF:FE28:9C5A
can be comressed to:
21DA:D3:0:0:2AA:FF:FE28:9C5A.
Compressing zeros in IPv6
some IPv6 addresses often contain long sequences of zeros.
In Ipv6 addresses, a contiquous sequence of blocks set to 0 can be compressed to :: (double colon).
Example:
21DA:D3:0:0:2AA:FF:FE28:9C5A
can be compressed to:
21DA:D3::2AA:FF:FE28:9C5A.
Zero compression can be used only once in an IPv6 address.
